Llanelian yn Rhos has a very close-knit community where the village hall forms the focal point of a number of events and meetings throughout the year. The existing timber porter cabin has stood for more than 25 years but it's now reaching the end of its lifetime.

At Saer we enjoy working close to the community and on this project we've engaged with the user-group to fully understand their developing needs for a community hub. Internally we improved access provisions, provided an accessible toilet, enlarged kitchen, additional storage while the main hall space will be enhanced by increased natural lighting and connections to the external spaces whilst framing the spectacular views.

Elements of timber cladding and a metal standing seam roof provides a modern building sitting in the traditional village. The external envelope will be constructed to a high thermal standard, providing a building with low running costs along with photovoltaic panels which will be creating electricity to heat and run the the building.
